Mathematical Dictionary

Hi
I have attached a mathematical dictionary for your use and reference.
Quiz time:
Find the definitions of the following terms with examples (first one to post and got them correct stand to win a mathematical prize)
  1. Prime number
  2. Natural number
  3. Rational Number

  1. prime number:
A positive integer which has only 1 and the number itself as factors. For example, 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, etc. are all primes. By convention, the number 1 is not prime.
Natural number:The numbers used for counting.
Rational number:All positive and negative fractions, including integers and so-called improper fractions. Formally, rational numbers are the set of all real numbers that can be written as a ratio of integers with nonzero denominator. Rational numbers are indicated by the symbol .
Vulgar Fraction:It's what most of us simply call a fraction, i.e. one written with the numerator and denominator separated by a line
Indicesa number is multiplied by itself any number of times, the expression is simplified by using the index notation.

  3. A prime number is a positive number that is more than 1 which can only divisible by only one number and its only factor,1.
A natural number is any positive number that is at least 1 or more.
A rational number is all positive and negative fractions, including integers and so-called improper fractions. Formally, rational numbers are the set of all real numbers that can be written as a ratio of integers with nonzero denominator.
A vulgar fraction is a another way to call our common fractions. So,actually vulgar fractions means our normal fraction which has a numerator and a denominator.A fraction means a ratio of numbers or variables.
A indices number is a mathematical expression that makes a number multiply by the number of times what the mathematical expression had stated. The expression is being read as to the power of.However,we cannot easily work out what 2³×5² is, whereas we can simplify 3²×3³ .

  5. 1)Prime numbers: Numbers that can be divided by itself or 1. E.g. 2,3,5,7,11,13,17
2)natural number: natural numbers are regular numbers you count with.
3)Rational number: rational numbers are non zero numbers that can be written as a ratio
4)vulgar fractions is a we usually call fraction a numerator on top and denominator below.
5)Indices:They are square number, cube numbers and so on. Numbers they are multiplied by themselves 2 or more times.

  9. Prime number- is a number which can only be divide by he number 1 or itself, it cannot be divided by any other numbers. e.g. 2,3,5,7,etc...

Natural numbers- are numbers that can be used for counting and is not negative. e.g. 1,2,3,4,5,etc...

Rational numbers_ are numbers with a denominator that is not zero but it is at least 1 and can be converted to either fraction or ratio. e.g. -4,5/9,6,etc...

Vulgar fraction- is a fraction which is common and is different from decimal fractions. e.g. 2/3,5/46,etc.....

Indices- are numbers that shows the times a number has multiplied itself.(also known as powers) e.g. 2 to the power of 5, 6 square, 9 cube, etc.....
